Scope (Target audience) : The course is designed as per the IMO Model Course 1.22. Ship Simulator and Bridge Teamwork and satisfies the STCW minimum standard for competence in Navigation at Operational Level (STCW A-II/I) and at Management Level.

(STCW A-II/2) STCW 2010 Section A/B-VIII/2. The Exercises are run on a RADAR ARPA NAVIGATION Simulator and covers all aspects all of Ship-handling, passage planning, collision avoidance regulations, bride team work and management and control of navigational errors.

Bridge Team Resource Management (BTRM) is a crucial training course designed to optimize the collective skills and efficiency of maritime professionals involved in vessel navigation. This comprehensive program emphasizes the importance of resource utilization, effective communication, and collaborative decision-making on the bridge, ensuring a safer and more efficient maritime operation.

A primary focus of the BTRM course is enhancing communication skills among bridge team members. Participants learn to overcome language barriers and express information clearly and succinctly. This emphasis on effective communication is vital, especially during challenging scenarios like adverse weather conditions, heavy traffic, or emergency situations.

Teamwork is a cornerstone of BTRM, aiming to foster a collaborative environment on the bridge. The course underscores the significance of a well-coordinated team comprising the master, officers, and relevant personnel. Through realistic simulations, participants practice seamless collaboration, recognizing and leveraging each team member’s role and responsibilities. This proactive approach to teamwork ensures that everyone on the bridge is working cohesively towards the common goal of ensuring the safety of the vessel and its crew.

BTRM also places a strong emphasis on honing decision-making skills. Participants engage in practical scenarios where they must analyze information, assess risks, and make informed decisions promptly. This hands-on training enhances their ability to navigate unexpected challenges effectively, reinforcing the importance of a structured decision-making process on the bridge.

Situational awareness is a key component addressed in the BTRM course. Participants are trained to maintain constant awareness of their vessel’s position, surroundings, and the actions of other vessels. This heightened awareness allows the bridge team to anticipate potential risks and take proactive measures, contributing to overall navigation safety.

Moreover, the course delves into the human factors influencing maritime operations. Recognizing the impact of psychological and interpersonal aspects on teamwork, participants gain insights into managing stress, fatigue, and other human-related factors that can influence performance on the bridge.

In summary, the Bridge Team Resource Management course is a vital investment for maritime professionals looking to optimize their navigation skills. By focusing on resource utilization, communication, teamwork, and decision-making, the course equips participants with the tools needed to navigate vessels safely and efficiently in the dynamic and challenging maritime environment. Elevate your maritime skills with BTRM and ensure a secure and effective bridge team operation.
